How did timekeeping devices change society? change work?

people always think of their time as the 'modern' era

i hate it when folks act like the people of the past were stupid. they're just as human as us ! sure, they have less collective knowledge, but you can't blame the first guy for not knowing something that took a whole bunch of guys building on each others' work to figure out.

how the brain percieves time is so weird.
